My bucket list is made up of a 101 tasks I have to complete in 1,001. The tasks include silly things, meaningful ones too, and things (if you know me) I have never been able to complete. Follow me as I actually finish something I have started, find real strength in my word and integrity in completing something I said I would do and maybe some of your own motivation to start tackling your own bucketlist. The 1,001 days ends October 15, 2012…

#21 Don’t Drink Alcohol for a Month

4/13/10 was 30 days of no alcohol. I did it. I am really proud of myself that I was able to accomplish this. It was really hard at times and some of my friends thought it was just not doable. Things I learned from this experience.

1. Clarity is a nice thing to have.
2. While getting drunk on occasion happens, I don’t think it should be the goal anymore
3. Being all drunk and sloppy is not a flattering look
4. The people who felt uncomfortable around me while I wasn’t drinking have their own drinking problem
5. YOU CAN STILL HAVE PLENTY OF FUN WITHOUT EVEN ONE SIP OF ALCOHOL
6. If you need to drink around certain people it may be time to re-evaluate the relationship

3/27/10~Today is day 13 of not drinking. The first couple days were hard but then it got a lot easier. I went out for St. Patrick's Day and just drank soda and also again over last weekend. It is weird the things you notice though. People treat me like I have a broken leg, since I am not drinking. I don't know why I cannot be treated like normal. Also it was different to be able to observe from the outside how much of a big deal people make drinking. They wanna bar hop when it really is all the same. I have a lower tolerance for some people. Some of them being drinking buddies or people I think I may have drank around to relieve the stress they bring me. I have a little more than a month left. I just take it day by day and handle each temptation when it arises.
